The leagues are designed with flexibility in mind. You don't directly compete against another league member**, removing the challenges of scheduling a match. People are busy and this format allows for players to play when they are available and allows for makeup rounds to count for competition.
The scoring is simple, shoot your target score and get 10 points. Shoot below your target and get 1 additional point for each stroke below. Shoot above your target and subtract a point for each stroke over. Score points each week and accumulate as many points as you can to chase your league's crown and beat your fellow league members.
It's always best to play during your league night, but this format allows you to make-up a round when life gets in the way and you can't make it.
**There can be matches played directly against an opponent if you opt for a post-season playoff component
Rather than use a GHIN or index handicapping system TGL uses a Target Score to handicap and level the competitive dynamics. The Target Score works by averaging your most recent scores compared to par (differential) and providing a Target relative to your skill level to achieve. Shoot your target, score 10 points for the week. Shoot below, and score an additional point for each stroke below your target score. Similarly, if you score above your target then subtract a point from 10 for every stroke above.
The better you play, the lower your target score will be. Depending on your ability and consistency, your target score could be very different at different times during the season; hopefully lower if you're playing well.
There are a couple of ways to determine the target score at the start of the season.
If you've played with us before, you can use the average target score from the previous season for the returning player to start.
If everyone is new, or only a few players are new, then we build a 'pre-season' period into the season where we use as little as 2 or as many as 3 weeks to build a target score to start.
That is up to you. If you want to build skins into your league, you can. We can add a skins component to the scoring book to track the winners.
Want to reward the "Player of the Week"? Easily recognize the player(s) that played the best against their scoring target for the week.
We can customize the league template to best fit your group and give you the tools to manage everything from there.
You tell us. We recommend at least 10 weeks for healthy competition but have seen success with as few as 8. In the prototype league, we've had success with 13-15.
There are two options. The first, is simply to see who has the most points at the end of the pre-determined number of weeks for the season. The second, is a post-season component where players compete head to head in a single elimination bracket-style tournament to crown the champion. The regular season determines the ranking and the matchups in the bracket. Each player plays against their target score, and the player with the most points from the round moves on.

Proper golf etiquette includes respecting the course and other players, repairing divots and ball marks, keeping quiet during shots, and keeping pace with the group in front of you.
A wedge is a type of iron that is used for short shots around the green, while other irons are used for hitting shots from the fairway or rough.
The dimples on a golf ball help reduce drag and increase lift, allowing the ball to travel farther and more accurately through the air.
